Machine Sizer – Sets up machines to grind and polish edges or surfaces of lens blanks: Selects specified grinding and polishing tools and secures tools to machine spindles, using handtools. Turns adjustment screws to set radius of grinding and polishing arm stroke according to size of lens holding block. Sets time cycle which automatically stops machines on completion of grinding and polishing process. Tilts and secures generator machine head at required angle with workpiece according to specified curve and thickness of lens. Installs and adjusts lens holders and diamond wheel on edging machines according to diameter of lens. May also dress grinding wheel.
